The first transnational meeting and training course of the project AGRO was organized in Italy from the 14th until the 18th of July 2015. Our host town was the beautiful Modica in Sicily where young people from four countries (Italy, Greece, Ghana and Cameroon) have met and examined different issues related with the empowerment of young people for the development of innovative initiatives in the field of agriculture.

During the training course, the youth workers that have attended have:

  • developed a business plan for a youth-led start-up in the agricultural sector
  • deepened their knowledge in specific fields related with “Water management in agriculture”, “Fruitculture in Mediterranean region”, “Olive and oil chain”, “Grape and wine chain“, “Social Entrepreneurship in Rural Areas”
  • Attended a roundtable with best examples of young successful entrepreneurs in the field of agriculture in Sicily
  • Attended two study visits in Ispica to the Moncada farm- (horticultural sector) and in Chiaramonte Gulfi, to the farm (olive oil sector)
