Project Dumpong

The project Dumpong is a follow up project which is developed as a result of the activities of AGRO. It is based on the cooperation between youth workers from Ghana and Greece in order to support the Dumpong community for its economic, cultural amd social development.

The wider Dumpong area is enhabited by farmers that do not have the know-how of modern agricultural production and investments. Through the Dumpong project, the involved youth workers share their knowledge in relation to the problems faced by the community while on the same time, the possibility for the development of commercial relations is examined. The main area where the project is focused for the agricultural and economic development of the area is the training of local farmers in topics related with the way of advertising and selling their products.

In this framework, there is going to be organised a festival of gastronomic and cultural character (hopefully in Autumn 2017) under the guidance and the transfer of experience of thr youth workers involved. During this festival, there are going to be kiosks from where the local people are going to sell their products- processed or fresh- to the visitors while in parallel cultural events are going to be organised. In order to be able to implement the activity, the project aims to organise a volunteering programme where young people from all over the world are going to be invited to contribute to the preparation of the festival and accomodation is going to be provided.

Furthermore, since the community needs financial support, but also for promotion reasons, the project has developed a facebook page and fund raising campaigns are going to run in indiegogo for small projects such as: plantation of ornamental plans in the school, improvement of the infrastructure of the school and the infirmary, footballl field for the school, essentials and toys for the children etc.

Main aim ofthe project is to make the village known and a successful case study.
